General Assembly

General Assembly is the governing body of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada. When General Assembly gathers every two years, discernment and decisions are made for the following reasons:

  • Advancing the mission and vision of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada.
  • Evaluating the progress of the ministries of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada.
  • Electing officers, transacting business, and enacting denominational policies.
  • Providing opportunities for worship, fellowship, spiritual renewal, inspiration to greater service, and the development of ministry skills.

About Darren Herbold

Rev. Darren Herbold has a passion to see The Alliance Canada thrive as a Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, and Mission-focused movement. Darren has served The Alliance Canada for over 15 years. Darren served as pastoral staff for seven years at Beulah Alliance. In 2014, Darren, and his wife, Naomi, were sent as international workers to Thailand where they served for over eight years. In 2015, Darren and Naomi were appointed as Team Leaders, and then in 2019, as Regional Developers, providing leadership and oversight to the region. Darren Herbold also served on the Board of Directors for the past four years. Darren also has significant experience in the area of entrepreneurial business, founding and directing an international charitable organization, For Freedom International, focused on anti-trafficking, community development, and Gospel multiplication efforts in southeast Asia. In July 2022, The Alliance Canada appointed Rev. Darren Herbold to serve as President of The Alliance Canada. Darren graduated from Covenant Bible College in Strathmore, AB (Certificate in Christian Studies), Taylor University College in Edmonton, AB (B.A. in Religion and Theology), and Liberty University in the USA (M.A. [with high distinction] in Global Studies). Darren and Naomi have three children.

About Damien Lee

Rev. Dr. Damien Siew Hing Lee is passionate about developing and empowering leaders of diverse backgrounds who are committed to advancing the Kingdom in the hardest and darkest regions of the world. In 1992, at the age of seventeen, Damien moved with his parents from Malaysia to Canada. He is of South-East Asian descent. Damien and his wife, Darlene, have been married since 2000 and have two children. They were deployed as International Workers with The Alliance Canada to the Middle East from 2011 – 2021. On March 1, 2022, Damien was appointed as International Vice President at the National Ministry Centre and tasked with the profound privilege of leading The Alliance Canada’s global missions engagements in nations and among people groups that have yet to encounter the hope and transforming power of Jesus. Since 2000, Damien and Darlene have attended and served with Rexdale Alliance Church (Toronto, ON), Foothills Alliance Church (Calgary, AB), South Edmonton Alliance Church (Edmonton, AB), and currently The Well (Vaughan, ON). Damien graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston, ON (Bachelor of Commerce), Canadian Theological Seminary in Calgary, AB (Master of Divinity), and Alliance Theological Seminary in New York, NY (Doctor of Ministry – Christian Leadership in a Global Context).

About Wayne Regehr

Rev. Wayne Regehr has a passion for preparing the church for the next era of ministry to contribute to and witness the growth of God’s Kingdom. Wayne and his wife, Jan, have been engaged with The Alliance Canada since 1973 in various lay roles at Southgate Alliance Church and Cochrane Alliance Church. Additionally, Wayne and Jan have been involved with the Alliance church in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Wayne’s lay involvement changed in 2015 as he moved into a pastoral role serving at Sherwood Park Alliance Church in Edmonton, Alberta as Executive Pastor. In 2022, Wayne moved to a role at the Western Canadian District Office as Director of Operations. Wayne also has significant experience in business, ranging from running his own company to running a business unit of a global software company. In January 2024, The Alliance Canada engaged Rev. Wayne Regehr to serve as Vice President Operations and Strategy Execution. Wayne graduated from NAIT in Edmonton, AB (Diploma of Business Administration) in 1982 and completed his Certified Management Accounting designation in 1987 (since updated to the CPA designation). He graduated from Ambrose Seminary (Master of Divinity) in 2008. Additionally, he has attended executive education at the Center for Creative Leadership and Harvard Business School. Wayne and Jan have three adult children.

Districts

The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) in Canada is organized into six geographic districts. Each district office oversees the licensing, ordination, and supervision of the workers located in that geographic area. Each district has a District Superintendent and together with a team provide resources and guidance for local Alliance churches in areas of growth, leadership, Christian education, missions conferences, multicultural ministries, pastoral care, and church-planting.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the executive body of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada and is responsible for its administration in accordance with the General operating Bylaw. It ensures that decisions made by General Assembly are properly executed.

Board meetings consist of prayer, interaction with the President, deliberation, and planning.

The Board is comprised of 12 members; at the time of election there must be at least one member from each District, the President, and the balance who are elected without reference to their District of residence.

The Board of Directors is comprised of people with diverse stories, backgrounds, experiences, and a passion for the C&MA in Canada.
