Purpose – By the grace of God and the fullness of His Spirit, be part of providing leadership and oversight to the spiritual formation of youth and young adults through Wednesday/ Sunday youth/young adult nights, camps, off-site activities, retreats, outreach, recreation, fellowship, discipleship, evangelism, and other such programs.
Part Time (Permanent) (20 hours a week– may grow as skills and opportunities align)
Core Responsibilities and duties
- Vision Casting — Be a part of planning strategically and promoting a church-wide vision of reaching and developing youth/young adults
- Strategy Implementation — Promote a strategy for faith development that encourages youth to worship God, learn and obey His Word, win others to Christ, and serve within the body.
- Leadership Development — Oversee, recruit, train, equip, support, and develop the skills of volunteer leaders and sponsors to accomplish the vision in providing shepherd-type leadership and facilitating an environment where youth can excel spiritually, emotionally and physically.
- Relationship Building — Maintain personal participation and develop relationships with youth; visit, connect and counsel.
- Youth Teaching Team — Facilitate the growth of all youth/ young adults in understanding their faith; provide teaching/coaching on Biblical and social issues that relate to youth/young adults in their contexts. Be a part of overseeing internship ministry program (where applicable).
- Planning and Organizing — Develop and implement all activities related to youth ministry; maintain up-to-date records on such matters as attendance, sponsors, and the like.
- Participate in Alliance Community Church’s leadership team.
Qualifications
Spiritual
Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and believes the Bible to be God-breathed, inerrant and the foundational truth in a believer’s life.
Demonstrates a vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Spends regular time in personal Bible study, prayer & worship.
Displays a passion to know, trust and follow Jesus.
Is sensitive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in his/her life and ministry, allowing the Spirit to have free reign in his/her leadership and teaching, with a central focus on the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Is willing to equip others to use their spiritual gifts.
Lives an exemplary life based on clear biblical principles.
Supports and commits to The Alliance Canada’s Statement of Faith and supports the global and district ministries and missions of The Alliance Canada.
Supports and commits to the church’s Constitution and Vision Statement.
Spiritual giftings should include leadership, administration, evangelism and teaching.
Professional
Has a deep love and care for youth and young adults.
Possesses strong teaching, leadership, evangelistic and discipleship skills.
Has the ability to develop and mentor lay leaders in Youth ministry and ensure team members are building volunteer leaders by equipping them to lead ministry areas.
Demonstrates expertise in acquiring vision, casting that vision, and recruiting volunteers into that vision.
Possesses an undergraduate level of theological studies or equivalent degree from an accredited evangelical seminary (preferential)
Is accredited (or willing to be accredited) with The Alliance Canada or holds education and experience and testimony that will qualify the individual to be accredited with The Alliance Canada.
Previous exposure to youth ministry is preferred.
