Project Description
Migrant Ministry exists in SE Asia to bring eternal hope to refugees. Our goal is to help them be part of physically, emotionally, and spiritually thriving communities. We do this through the following: prioritizing long-term relationships, local partnerships, significant and appropriate holistic development programs and mentoring. All of these are undergirded with a foundation of prayer.
Our country is not a signatory country in the Refugee Convention, resulting in the Rohingya people having no rights. Refugee children are not permitted to attend government schools and adults are not allowed to work legally. There are approximately 100,000 children with no access to formal education and only 34% have access to informal education through alternative learning centers. There are approximately 20 of these kinds of learning centers in our area, but many of the teachers in these learning centers are untrained.
We believe each person is created by God and has been given gifts which can be developed and used to the Glory Him. Our motto is “Equipping you to Equip Others.” A few of the ways we aim to develop people includes teacher training and mentoring with refugee teachers, strengthening and empowering women through skill training, equipping and empowering refugee communities and supporting education. We provide classroom learning materials and supplies, some teacher financial support, assessment and support for children with special needs, teach English, mentoring and teacher workshops, and support of transportation needs.
