The Alliance Canada Leadership Training Fund (TACLTF) supports the formation and development of leaders who will serve and strengthen the Church in Canada. It provides tuition grants to those pursuing vocational ministry through qualifying post-secondary theological education.

You may apply if you:

• Maturing Christ-follower with a recognized or emerging call to vocational ministry.
• Member (or pursuing membership) in an Alliance church; actively contributing there.
• Plan to serve in a local church or in international ministry.
• Have written support from your local church Board of Elders.
• Provide two reference letters from spiritual mentors (one from a pastor, one non-family).
• Enrolled in a theological, biblical, or ministry degree program at a qualifying school.
• Canadian citizen or permanent resident currently living in Canada.
• Available for a 30-minute interview with The Alliance Canada.

Priority is given to first-degree, full-time students (3–4 courses per semester).

• Second semester of the same year: No. Submit proof of enrollment, course list, and a transcript showing a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Following year: Yes. You must reapply and provide a transcript showing a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Funds are sent directly to your qualifying school by cheque from The Alliance Canada’s Finance Department. You will also receive a T4A slip for tax purposes.

1. Complete the online application form (link available June 23, 2025).
2. Provide all required documents:
   • Board of Elders approval letter (link here)
   • Two letters of recommendation (from a pastor and a non-family friend)
   • Personal testimony and call to ministry essay (max 500 words)
   • Proof of enrollment (and transcript if returning)
3. Participate in a 30-minute remote interview.

Yes. Grant recipients will:

• Attend one annual in-person leadership gathering (expenses covered for first-degree, full-time students).
• Join one virtual meeting each academic semester.

• Elders Board Letters: presidents office
• Reference Letters: church hub
• General questions: Visit The Alliance Canada website.

• Have conversations with those in your ministry who are discerning a potential call.
• Have “I see in you…” conversations with individuals who may have a call to vocational ministry.
• If you have students who meet eligibility requirements, send them the application link.

The Alliance Canada has provided clear pathways to schools across Canada that deliver theologically rigorous and accessible education. Partner with these institutions to support your students.

Your church will need to:

• Provide oversight for the student.
• Offer ministry opportunities for them to be actively involved in church life.

Runs from September 2025 to April 2026. Depending on enrollment, some students may be accepted in January 2026.

$4,000 toward theological education.

$1,000 bursary to attend the year-end gathering for all participants.

The Alliance Canada has 7 educational values that would qualify a school. Currently there are 5 schools across Canada that have been assessed and meet these requirements and have students currently attending.

To become a Hub Church, five key components are required:

1. A Culture of Formation – The church must have a genuine heart for developing leaders, not simply finding extra help for ministry tasks.
2. A Called Individual – There must be someone in the community sensing a call to vocational ministry, affirmed by church leadership, and ready for further discernment.
3. A Place to Serve – The church provides a meaningful ministry role where the apprentice can invest deeply and grow in leadership.
4. Support and Mentorship – Church leadership commits to offering care, guidance, mentorship, and coaching throughout the apprenticeship journey.
5. Theological Education – The apprentice must enroll in a qualified school, taking a minimum of three classes per semester. If approved, The Alliance Canada will provide a grant toward their theological studies.
