The Alliance Canada has three leader formation pathways towards vocational ministry and they can all happen within your local church community.

Here's what you get:

  • Subsidized theological education
  • Mentorship from experienced leaders
  • Accountability for discerning next steps

This is Spirit-led formation rooted in scripture and mission, with the highest value for listening to the voice of God.

Three formation pathways to
find the right fit for you

Church Hubs

Perfect fit: You're actively involved in an Alliance church

Apprentices in this pathway make a commitment to their local church, engaging in formal theological education, mentorship, ministry service, and intentional discernment related to ministry calling.

  • The first year focuses on spiritual formation and foundational leadership development.
  • Second year introduces greater ministry responsibility and preparation for deployment (must reapply to second year).

Participants receive a $3,000 grant per year to subsidize their education and cover the cost of a retreat.

Second Career

Perfect fit: You have significant experience in another career.

This pathway accommodates for life, family, and professional responsibilities during the formation season.

Apprentices make a year commitment to engage in part-time theological and professional formation. They tap into to mentored ministry experience, non-school learning, spiritual formation and discernment practices. They also connect with Alliance educational and credentialing avenues.

In Residence

Perfect fit: You're nearing graduation from a Bible college or seminary.

Apprentices build relationships across the Alliance network, participate in cohort calls, receive mentorship, and serve the local church while continuing their studies.

Participants receive a $2,000 grant per year to subsidize their education and cover the cost of a retreat.

There's a path to ministry for any stage of life

Whether you're a bible school student, recent graduate, mid-career reinventor, or a legacy-minded professional — there's a space for you here to discern and discover your next season.

Eligibility:
  • Enrolled in a theological, biblical, or ministry degree program at a qualifying school.
  • Maturing Christ-follower with a recognized or emerging call to vocational ministry in a local church or international ministry.
  • Active Member (or pursuing membership) in an Alliance church.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada.

Note: Priority is given to first-degree, full-time students (3–4 courses per semester).
