Kat began her first term in Tokyo March 2024 and is currently in language school studying Japanese.

Vision

We long to see a growing network of disciple-making communities among the Japanese in the Tokyo area.

Bio

Kat was born in Hong Kong and came to Canada when she was 7 years old. She grew up knowing God and was baptized in high school. Though saved, Kat went through a rebellious season during her undergrad years. Kat’s calling into cross-cultural missions has been a gradual one. Upon her graduation, she attended a conference about the 10/40 window and was deeply moved by the Spirit. She recommitted her life to Jesus that night and began serving at her local church. Since then, Kat has participated in different short-term missions trips, taken the Kairos Course, and completed her Certificate in Theological Studies from Wycliffe College. God has given her a desire to serve Him through cross-cultural missions and after a two-year apprenticeship in Southeast Asia, she has felt the Lord calling her to work with the team serving among the Japanese.

Prayer Requests

Pray for Kat’s language studies. Pray for the capacity to grasp the Japanese language and retain what she is learning. Pray for courage and opportunities to practice speaking. Pray for sensitivity to the culture and an open-mind to learn from Japanese believers. Pray for a deepening of friendships among the Japanese believing community. Pray for the churches in Japan to be strengthened, pray for wisdom and ability to create spaces for emotions. Pray that the walls and barriers of suppressed emotions and conformity would be broken down in Jesus’ name.
