Current Priorities
Our team is engaged in direct ways to reach the Rohingya Refugees. I am specifically engaged in the area of Education. We come alongside teachers that are teaching refugee children in learning centres as these children are not able to attend the national schools here. Many of these teachers are untrained. We provide different teacher trainings and workshops such as, and not limited to- classroom management, trauma and stress, dental hygiene, English, Child safety, and mentoring. Our motto is "Equipping you, to equip others". As we help equip these teachers by giving them different tools and skills, we believe that they in-turn, will be able to equip their students. We also work alongside community leaders and the learning centres to create safe spaces for the children to play.
Vision
We believe that every person has value. One of the basic rights of any child is the right to an education. We exist in SE Asia to bring eternal hope to refugees, with the goal of helping them become physically, emotionally, and spiritually thriving communities. We do this through prioritizing long-term relationships, local partnerships, significant and appropriate holistic development programs, and mentoring, all supported by a foundation of prayer.
Bio
I grew up in a pretty disfunctional family and by the age of 13 my parents had separated and later divorced. While I had been taken to church from infancy, it was only through the love and care of others that came around me at the time of my parent's divorce did I experience Jesus and give my life to Him. It was out of this experience thatI decided that I wanted to be a safe place for those in need just as others had been for me.
This has been the catalyst for deciding to follow Jesus to the difficult and unreached places. I spent 10 years working with orphaned and abandoned children in Mozambique, Africa and then moved to SE Asia to work among the Balinese Hindus and now continue to serve in SE Asia among the Rohingya Refugees. It has been 20 year now since I made that 1st decision and while there are times that it is really hard and lonely, the "call" - His Call - has been my anchor.
