A New Venture in Vernon, B.C.

New Ventures

The Forge is a new venture led by Rev. Jeremy and Rev. Carmen Kinniburgh in Vernon, BC. Since 2017, the Kinniburgh's have hosted a small gathering in their home. Recently, this group participated in a four-month discernment process and collectively sensed that the Holy Spirit was leading them to explore fresh missional opportunities in the North Okanagan and new ways of being the church. The Forge has now launched as a movement of small communities of Jesus followers who long to help the unchurched and de-churched (re)discover Jesus, embrace His Gospel, and be equipped to live in spiritual renewal—and to help others do the same.

The term “de-churched” may be unfamiliar to some, but it describes those who may still love Jesus but no longer attend church or belong to a faith community. Many are deconstructing or questioning their faith, have been hurt or disillusioned by the church, or are simply searching for something more authentic and life-giving.

As New Ventures leaders, Jeremy and Carmen are excited to see people experience the hope and love of Jesus in new ways—through healing, pastoral care, discipleship, and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

This new venture is being launched in partnership with the Pacific District  of The Alliance Canada, and with the blessing of Vernon Alliance Church.

New Ventures

New Ventures creates space for new expressions of church to emerge. Whether in urban centres, rural communities, or among diverse people groups, we focus on multiplying disciples and equipping leaders to reach new people in the least- churched and under-resourced areas of Canada.
