In a remote village in Asia, Iresh decided to follow Jesus. He quickly realized, “I am the first person to receive Jesus in my whole community.”
He could have kept it quietly to himself but instead, he preached in his village and went to the neighbouring villages to share his newfound joy.
His witness came at a terrible price
Iresh was seized, hanged upside down, severely beaten, and left for dead. Somebody had mercy on him and cut him free when it was safe. Iresh barely escaped with his life.
As he recovered, he kept feeling a calling from God as he prayed: “Go back to that unreached community.”
So he courageously returned to the very villages that he nearly died and continued preaching Christ. Since then, he has planted three churches.
Iresh isn’t alone
He’s one of a growing movement in Asia, Unreached, that is preaching the Gospel and making Christ known in a place where less than 2% follow Jesus—where nearly half of all the world’s unreached, unengaged people live.
Unreached has already planted 57,000 churches and is on track to plant 100,000 by 2030 in villages just like Iresh’s. Since 2021, giving through the Alliance Canada has helped train 600 pastors, plant 1,200 churches, and see 15,000 people come to faith in Christ.
Be part of the story
Local believers like Iresh are willing to risk everything to preach Christ and make him known in hard and dark places. Your generosity through the Jaffray Offering sends and sustains church-planters to preach the name of Jesus in places that have never heard it. Your donation helps train, send, and support local church planters as they enter unreached communities, share the Gospel, and establish new churches where there has been little or no Christian witness.
