In an Asian village, Sokha built a thriving church with 90 people.
The village turned on Sokha
When Sokha’s father died, he buried him. But in his community, religious tradition insists that the dead be cremated, not buried. The burial instigated a riot.
The church was burned down, and a mob dug up his father’s body and burned it. The community of believers around Sokha scattered.
The grief was overwhelming, and yet—Sokha is resolved to keep following Jesus.
He pivoted his strategy and now he shepherds three or four small churches. Some people have left as the community around him buzzes with hostility. But Sokha and the house churches around him are still faithfully following Jesus despite the cost.
Beacons of light in hard and dark places
Across Asia — more than 3.4 billion people have still never heard the name of Jesus — our partner Unreached is raising up local believers to preach the Gospel and plant churches in the hardest places.
More than 19,000 church planters have already been trained and sent, with over 3,000 more completing their training this year to begin planting churches of their own. The Alliance Canada's partnership has helped build one training centre and renovate another — equipping the next generation of local believers who, like Sokha, will go where the Gospel has never been heard, whatever it costs them.
Be part of the story
Through your gift to the Jaffray Offering, you equip, send, and sustain believers like Sokha as they proclaim Christ despite the cost. These believers are determined and faithful—they’ll preach Christ with or without our partnership—but your gift brings scale so we can plant more churches, raise more leaders, and see more followers of Jesus. Your donation helps expand training centres, prepare new church planters, and strengthen local leaders who continue serving in communities where faithfulness often comes at great personal cost.
