In May 2018, Grand Forks, British Columbia was submerged by catastrophic flooding, forcing almost 2,800 people to evacuate their homes.
This natural disaster resulted in churches across many denominations springing into action to bring relief to the people that were affected by the waters.
Mike and Sheila Davis, members at Trail Alliance Church (B.C), are a retired couple who spent two weeks this past summer volunteering with Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS), “an organization that rebuilds and repairs homes for people affected by natural disasters like hurricanes, floods, earthquake, tornadoes, or wildfires.” River Valley Community Church, located in Grand Forks, B.C, hosted MDS.
Mike and Sheila, MDS, River Valley Community Church, and the people affected by the flooding were all blessed by the partnership that was created across denominations. Brothers and sisters in Christ joining together to be the hands and feet of Jesus, while offering hope.
