Nadim, a Yemeni believer, lost everything when he fled his home. He wrote:
“My wife and I were displaced, forced to leave everything behind due to the war. We have been living in [a neighbouring country] since 2015. Two years ago, I lost my job. My family and I have had difficulty scraping together basic living costs.
Honestly, I was experiencing significant psychological stress, and periods of discouragement that sometimes left me feeling isolated. But a glimmer of hope dawned when your organization agreed to grant me a 2-year, interest free loan. I immediately started my business, purchasing medicines in bulk, distributing them to village pharmacies and clinics, selling them at retail prices.
The new income stream pays for my regular medical treatments and checkups, family obligations, and saves to development my small business and create an emergency fund. So, from the bottom of my heart, I thank the organization for your help and care for me and my family!”
How the program works
Our partners in the region are working with 65 other local leaders in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)—people just like Nadim—who are eligible for small business loans because they 1) are in need, 2) are trustworthy, 3) have a track record of managing their finances well, and 4) have a profitable skill. They are receiving coaching throughout the program, and as they repay their loans, the funds are redistributed to future applicants.
Programs like these strengthen the local church because they reduce local believers’ dependence on foreign aid, strengthen their families, and give them dignity as they gain self-supporting livelihoods.
In 2026 our partners are projected to:
- Provide 19 business loans to vulnerable Christians in the region—including 1-2 larger loans.
- Continue coaching 65 existing loan recipients and monitoring the development of their businesses as they repay their loans.
- Hold one financial stewardship training for 15 local believers. Our partner considers financial stewardship an important component of discipleship for all believers.
